VEDC: Virginia Educational Development Collaborative
The Virginia Educational Development Collaborative, or VEDC, works with universities in Virginia to keep educators up-to-date with education practices and new technologies. For this project, the client wanted a logomark that provided legitimacy and represented their group's combined decades of experience in education. It was important to the client that the final design didn't closely echo any one university within Virginia.
To accomplish these goals, I wanted to subtly imply the shape of a shield or crest to allude to the brand's experience, while unifying the universities within the collaborative under one of Virginia’s symbols: the cardinal.
